Shopify is a hosted commerce platform that lets merchants run an online store with products, checkout, payments and order management.
Turn Shopify store events into WhatsApp messages
Connecting a Shopify store to WhatsApp lets cart, checkout and order events trigger messages to the shopper on the channel they actually read. It covers recovery of abandoned checkouts, cash-on-delivery confirmation and post-purchase updates without anyone sending messages by hand.
Set up in minutes
5 steps, start to finish. Our team does the Meta side with you.
- Generate the store token inside the WhatsApp platform's store setup screen and start the app install from there
- Approve the app install in the Shopify App Store
- Complete the one-time connection step the platform asks for, or use its manual connection route
- Return and paste the token to connect, then refresh to confirm the store shows as connected
- Create and submit message templates for approval, map their parameters, and enable each flow
What you can do
Abandoned cart reminders
Up to three reminders can go to a shopper who added items but did not check out. Typical default timing is about 20 minutes, 3 hours and 1 day after the cart was left, and the delays can be changed.
Stops when the customer buys
If the shopper completes the purchase after the first reminder, the later reminders are not sent. The order confirmation goes out instead, if that flow is switched on.
Cash-on-delivery confirmation
A COD order triggers a message with Confirm and Cancel quick-reply buttons. The customer's tap is written back to the Shopify order as a tag, so the team can see which orders are verified.
COD follow-up and payment nudges
If a COD customer has not replied, a follow-up goes out after a few hours. After confirmation, a payment request can encourage switching to prepaid, followed by a reminder if the order is still unpaid.
Order lifecycle updates
Messages can fire when an order is confirmed after online payment, cancelled, or fulfilled, with a tracking link on the fulfilled message.
Feedback and reorder messages
After a chosen delay following an order, the customer can receive a feedback request or a reminder to reorder the same items.
Dynamic message content
Templates can carry the customer's first name, order id, line items, order amount, checkout link and product images pulled from the order.
Per-flow reporting
Each automated flow reports sent, delivered, read, clicked and replied counts so the team can see which message performs.
Messages that go out by themselves.
Each one uses a template approved by Meta and goes to customers who opted in.

Questions
Do I need the WhatsApp Business app or the API?
Can I change the abandoned cart timing?
How does COD confirmation work?
Is deep technical knowledge needed?
- Every message needs a template approved by WhatsApp before it can be sent.
- Customers must have opted in to receive WhatsApp messages.
- Abandoned cart templates need a button, and the COD confirmation template needs exactly two quick-reply buttons.
- COD payment request and reminder need a payments connection on WhatsApp and a specific order-details template type.
